Craig Revel Horwood
Stepping out of judging Strictly Come Dancing and back
into directing, Craig Revel Horwood interrupts rehearsals to talk
about why he sees more dynamic talent on the British stage than in
many a TV talent show contest. Working with Tony Award winning
orchestrator Sarah Travis, he is reviving his 2006 hit Hot
Mikado which tours the UK later in 2009.
In the interview, Craig Revel Horwood explains that for his
version of Hot Mikado, he has made radical changes to the
all-black 1930's reworking of Gilbert and Sullivan's famous 1895
comic tale. No "Three Little Maids from School" here but rather a
strip tease homage to Gypsy Rose Lee.
And never one to be low key in anything, he tells Nicola
Barranger that for this version, there is no such thing as "over
the top".
