Zina Rohan Interview
The Small Book
Zina
Rohan talks to Nicola Barranger about her fourth novel The
Small Book in which a WW1 Private is forced to be part of a
firing squad executing a deserter from his own company.
When Ken Hoskins returns from the war he cannot forget the
incident. The experience shapes the rest of his life and the lives
of his children and grandchildren. This is a book about truth and
the urge to find out, but also about the importance of keeping
silent.
In the
video Zina Rohan explains why she wanted to write the book, how
she set about doing her research and what happened one day in the
public records office when the details became all too much.
