Israeli writer Assaf Gavron tells Nicky Barranger what inspired
him to write an ironic novel about suicide bombings during the
Intifada of 20 years ago.

Croc Attack!
Assaf Gavron's novel CrocAttack! won huge acclaim in
his native Israel and in Germany. Set during the Middle East
Intifada of twenty years ago, the film rights have already been
secured.
Yet a novel which opens with a suicide bomb on a bus, introduces
a Palestinian in a coma and describes how a hero become a national
celebrity simply because he avoids being killed, hardly seems an
obvious choice for a satirical bestseller.
