Do you mind being called a "luvvie"?
15 December 2010 by Nicky
Well Michael Coveney blogging on Whatonsstage.com certainly
does.
He claims in his blogpost piece that it's a term which is "demeaning
lazy and condescending" . He was writing following Whats on Stage
Editor Terri Paddock being included on The
Times top 50 most influencial people in theatre. On their front
page (the only bit you will see if, like me, you are too mean to
subscribe to the newspaper) The Times has a link entitled "50 top
luvvie list.". Or at least they did 10 minutes ago! Maybe they've
just read Michael Coveney blog and changed it.
But isn't "luvvie" is a term of professional endearment? Some
would argue tha the biggest luvvie of them all is surely someone
who is also hailed as the most hardworking and professional of them
all - indeed a National Treasure.
Sir Richard Attenborough.
