Well as the old omnibus cliché goes, you wait along for ages and
then two come along at once. Yes, thank you Penguin Books - we're
preparing for the Penelope Lively interview this Thursday
27th . Ms Lively who has written nearly a library
of books for both children and adults which includes many prize
winners. Her latest Family Album - see previous blog - is
a beautifully crafted read about a dysfunctional family living in
an old very large house. Both appear fine until you
investigate the cracks.
Then the distinguished journalist and agony aunt, Virginia
Ironside has agreed to face to the TIO microphone and camera
prior to publication next month of The Virginia
Monologues - 20 Reasons Why Growing old is Great. This should
be an excellent encounter. Growing old(er) is now very cool indeed,
and for those of us who are short of retirement age it should be a
fascinating read. Is sixty really the new 30? I think we should be
told.
Meanwhile, part of the plan for The Interview Online is to
encourage visitors to send in their questions for us to put to the
authors. So if you would like to pose a question to either
Penelope Lively or Virginia Ironside write to us
and we will do our best to include it.
It doesn't have to be a whole list, just one or two would be
fine...
